The programme which was established in 1979 has a number of unique features and offers students the broad range of experience necessary to kick start your career.

• The graduate programme comprises of four, six month placements each in a different business unit of Smurfit Kappa. This provides a safe and dynamic learning environment for graduates fresh out of college with limited work experience, but who are eager to pursue a successful career in management.

• A placement may feature one major assignment or a series of small projects, regardless of the assignment; it will be real and live and reflect the needs of our Business at that time. All students are encouraged to undertake a certificate in occupational Health & Safety Management in conjunction with IBEC & UCD. There is also the opportunity if you wish, to take up a foreign placement at one of our Global Operations, for example in the UK or Europe.

• By the end of the two years you will have had exposure to, and experience of, many of the issues which a successful global business must face and manage on a daily basis. You will be equipped with the skills necessary to become an accomplished manager of the future.

• On completion of the programme you will have a clear idea of the way you would like to develop your career. You will be given guidance to help you map out your career advancement and provided with details of suitable vacancies within the Smurfit Kappa Group. The majority of Senior Executives within the Smurfit Kappa Group are past Graduates and have grown with our organisation.
